Financial reports of various sportbooks



 

Gaming companies announce year 2009 financial sheets when some did a good job while some are losing out the position. We've concluded the financial reports of some big names in gaming industry to find out what happened in 2009 and who will dominate in 2010.

Sportingbet : Strong growth, profit up
It's reported 22% rise in gaming revenue to reach £52.6m for 3 months to 31 January 2010 compared to £43.0m last year. While the company profit has gained from £10.4m to £11.2m.
The sports wages rose 27% when the inplay betting had accounted 60% of the total value bets. Meanwhile casino and games are performing solidly with steadi grow of 10%, but the number declined in the Eastern Europe. However the Australian market has rosed 27% from £151.7m to £191.9 and the number of members also increased by 8%. Football wages represent 64% of the overall sport revenue.

Paddy Power : Profit disp despite online growth
The pre-tax profit in 2009 fell 15& to €67.2m compare to €79m in 2008. However the turnover rose 36% to €2752m from €2101m in 2008. The online business continues to grow and accounting 75% of the groups full year profit compared to just 57% in 2008.
*Chief Executive Patrick Kennedy mentioned 2009 was a cracking year for punters due to the punter friendly run of sporting result which was the exact opposite to the experience of previous year.

WilliamHill : Revenue growth, Profit down
The group revenue rose 4% to £997.9m but dip 7% in profit from £278m to £258.5m in 2009.
* The chief executive of the company blamed the significant volatility in sporting result and tough economy conditions hurts the company.

BWin : Suges on Gioco Digitale
The acquisition of Gioco Digital had lifted the overall of revenue by 12% which it would be 1% without it. While the overtal revenue rise 13% to £179.6m.
* BWin has revealed that the bad weather in December had strongly weakend the operator's sport revenue when Casino revenue grew 5% and Poker rose 36%.

The unusual result in Premiership with only 4 draws in 66 matches had hit the sportbook badly inlcuding PP, Ladbrokes, WH while the month of December which was supposed to be handsome turned ugly by the white snow. However we would see strong rebounced in the 1st quarter of 2010 when the games are resumes and all league going in to the last phase.
